Tours do NOT run in rain, snow and excessive heat. If there’s snow in the forecast over the winter, all tours will be CANCELLED until it is deemed safe to resume walking downtown. As a lot of the streets are old and many are made of brick, the slick conditions during the winter can make running tours quite challenging. We don’t want you leaving with anything but an enjoyable time and a history lesson.
*PLEASE NOTE: our schedule is subject to change without advanced notification.

Seth Mascolo is the owner/tour guide for Salem Heritage Tours. I am a single person operation, and not a large company. I keep my tours small and intimate, so everyone can have an enjoyable experience. A smaller number of guests creates a relaxed and comfortable group dynamic; no one gets lost in the crowd.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me at (978) 979-9014, or email [email protected] for more information.

The tour meets 1 minute prior to the start time on the Salem Common at the fence, opposite the statue on the boulder. The meeting location is directly across the street from the Salem Witch Museum. During October, we meet in front of the food vendors at the same spot.
-
If you wish to arrange a private tour, please call us at (978) 979-9014. A two (2) person minimum is required to book a private tour. Private tours are $100 per tour (cash only) and are limited to 10 people per tour.
Please don’t hesitate to send an email to [email protected] for more information.

The tour starts on time. Since folks can get restless after a while, I do like to begin at the advertised time. Unfortunately, I can’t wait for latecomers. Please plan accordingly. There is parking available at the garage across from the Visitor Center at 2 New Liberty St. There is also meter parking every day. Go to the Visitor Center or Hawthorne Hotel for a restroom stop and pick up a map, and from there you can walk to the Salem Common.

I recommend the Salem Witch Museum, Salem Trolley, House of the Seven Gables, PEM & Cry Innocent as wonderful places and events for the entire family.

October in Salem is very hectic, crowded, and fun. Imagine Times Square on New Year’s Eve, mixed with Mardi Gras and Halloween, and you pretty much have an idea of what Salem is like during the month of October. I recommend leaving at least 2 hours ahead of time. Tours on weekends and Halloween are at 9:30am only, as it is too crowded to get through downtown after 11:00am. Since October in Salem is so popular, we like to provide additional tours, so that more people can join in the fun.
